Blackjoy - Mercurian (Jupiter Remix)

It seems all my favorite new disco comes out of France these days. No big surprise really, given that in many ways it is the country where disco house originated. Here's a remix by Jupiter, a name I can't help but think was inspired by the legendary synthesizer. I know they at least have a Jupiter 6, so it must be true.

The song has tons of plucky analog synths, morphed vocals, big wide spectrum snare, and a relatively laid back tempo. It's everything I like about the genre. You can download the mp3 for free on their Facebook page (only 192 kbps, oh well). Stony Roads says Jupiter is putting out an album soon, so that's worth keeping an eye out for.

Vancouver's new bike lane is pretty cool

Being the fan that I am of driving videos, I was stoked to find this video on the Vancouver Province's website of some reporter biking down the new bike lane on Hornsby Street in downtown Vancouver. I love the idea and it's a great way to tell the story.

Vancouver, while no Amsterdam, is one of the most bike friendly cities I've been to. When I was there in 2009, everyone seemed to be biking all over the place. Great stuff.

Dual Citizen - Speeding at Night

Here's a new song I made. It's minimal, synth-driven, night drive disco inspired by I-35. Stream the lower quality player below or download a high quality mp3.

Video illusion in cupcake shop

Hey Cupcake! started as an a cupcake stand out of an Airstream trailer on South Congress Avenue in Austin. In their recently opened store in North Austin, Hey Cupcake! tried to simulate the feel of cruising in a recreational vehicle with this driving video. I love driving videos!

Driving though SoCo into downtown

Perfect weather yesterday for a three mile drive from South Austin straight up Congress Ave to the Capitol. Join me on a ten minute drive while I listen to the local public radio station. I'm using Vimeo for some video uploads now because the quality is just slightly better than YouTube.

Driving north on Lamar Blvd

Austin is a driving city and I spend a lot of time in automobiles. I've decided to videotape every street in the city, starting with this stretch of road. (Consider yourself warned, Google Street View!) These videos will provide you with a great opportunity to take in parts of Austin, Texas for a fraction of the cost and from the comfort of your own computer! This section of Lamar is considered drab to some, but I like it because it still has unique local character. Better than strip malls filled with big box stores!
