NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO TX
303 PM CST THU JAN 7 2010
..VERY COLD TEMPERATURES EXPECTED TONIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY...

AN OUTBREAK OF COLD ARCTIC AIR HAS ARRIVED IN CENTRAL AND SOUTH
TEXAS. WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH WILL SLOWLY DECREASE OVERNIGHT. THIS IN
COMBINATION WITH CLEARING SKIES WILL ALLOW TEMPERATURES TO DROP
WELL BELOW FREEZING.

LOWS IN THE TEENS ARE FORECAST IN THE HILL COUNTRY. LOW TO MID 20S
CAN BE EXPECTED ALONG THE I-35 CORRIDOR AND IN THE RIO GRANDE
PLAINS WITH UPPER 20S EXPECTED ALONG THE COASTAL PLAINS.

THE BREEZY NORTH WIND WILL CONTRIBUTE TO VERY LOW WIND CHILLS
TONIGHT. WIND CHILLS IN THE SINGLE DIGITS CAN BE EXPECTED IN THE
HILL COUNTRY AND AREAS TO THE NORTH, WHILE WIND CHILLS IN THE
TEENS ARE FORECAST FOR THE RIO GRANDE PLAINS AND COASTAL PLAINS.

BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES ARE FORECAST TO LAST THROUGH SUNDAY.
EXPECT HIGHS IN THE 30S AND 40S...AND LOWS IN THE TEENS AND 20S.

HARD FREEZES WILL DAMAGE VEGETATION AND EXPOSED PIPES. TAKE
PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT OUTDOOR PLANTS, PETS, AND PIPES.
